What is the philosophy of the Playgroup?
The Madison Playgroup believes that a child’s first experience should be a happy one. The Playgroup
provides an environment where young children learn that school is a safe and exciting place where
their teachers will encourage them to explore new experiences. It offers them an opportunity to learn
about the give and take of friendship as well as have new and exciting adventures.

The Playgroup provides an opportunity for young children to develop self-confidence and optimism as
they learn about the world around them. It is also where the very serious work of playing and growing
up can be done with friends.

The Madison Playgroup celebrates the major Christian and Jewish holidays in ways that are appropriate for young
children. The Playgroup welcomes children of every race and creed and actively seeks a diverse student body.

How do we apply to the Playgroup?
All applications should be returned by December 1st. No letters of reference are required or expected. An application
fee is charged, and the application and fee must be submitted before a visit can be arranged.

Children and parents are invited to visit together. The visit is designed to be a time for parents to see the school and
learn about the program while the children are observed during free play. The children are not expected to separate
from their parents during this visit.

The Madison Playgroup follows the reply dates established by The Independent Schools Admission Association of
Greater New York (ISAAGNY). Applications received after December 1st are processed on a space available basis.

Parents are required to sign a contract binding them to pay the tuition for the full year and to observe the health
and immunization requirements of The Madison Playgroup as a condition of admission.
