The Madison Playgroup is an independent, non-sectarian playgroup licensed by the NYC Board of Health. The Playgroup was founded in 1980. The Director is Susan Beatus; Admissions Director: Carla Nathanson-Hoffman.
What is the philosophy of the Playgroup?
The Madison Playgroup believes that a child’s first experience should be a happy one. The Playgroup provides an environment where young children learn that school is a safe and exciting place to where their teachers will encourage them to explore new experiences.

What do the children do at the Playgroup?
Talk, paint, draw, glue, play, make friend, giggle, blocks, water table, housekeeping area, art & holiday projects, transportation area, manipulative toys & games, science & cooking, music & movement, dramatic play, stories & puppets....

Group I
9:30 - 11:45am
Monday, Wednesday & Friday
Children turn 3 between August
and the end of January.
Group II
9:30 - 11:45am
Tuesday & Thursday
Children turn 3 between March 1
and May 31.
Group III
1:00 - 3:00pm
Monday, Tuesday & Thursday
Children turn 3 between March 1
and May 31.
Do the children need to be
toilet trained?
Children are not required to be toilet
trained when the Playgroup starts,
although we assume that the process will
have begun. We will cooperate with the
parents in this process.
